Health Plan Management is the process of developing and administering health plans. Health plan management includes the development of benefit packages, provider contracts, provider networks, provider credentialing, and claim processing. Health plan managers also develop and implement marketing strategies, employee education programs, and quality improvement initiatives. The goal of health plan management is to provide high-quality care at a lower cost. Health plan managers work closely with employers, insurance carriers, providers, and patients to develop and administer health plans that meet the needs of all stakeholders.
