Synaflow — Adaptive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
A 1:1 movement program for neurodivergent children and young adults, delivered in partnership with Universal Ability in Westmead.
Movement that meets your child where they are
Synaflow is a 1:1 adaptive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program built for neurodivergent children and young adults. Sessions use structured movement, visual supports and calm, predictable routines.
Every session helps participants build body awareness, confidence, self-regulation and comfort with safe physical interaction — one small win at a time.
Synaflow is a movement-based martial arts program, not a therapy service. It is designed to complement the clinical and educational supports already in place.

Meet your instructor Rafael
BJJ Black Belt · 2nd Degree · IBJJF recognised
Experienced teaching children and adults, with a particular focus on neurodivergent learners.
Rafael has completed training in Autism Awareness, Inclusive Practices, Sensory Processing and ADHD Awareness. He built Synaflow to bring together structured martial arts training and a way of teaching that keeps neurodivergent learners comfortable, clear and engaged.
Synaflow sessions are delivered as adaptive martial arts instruction. They are designed to sit alongside — not replace — existing clinical or educational supports.
Purposeful, not generic
Every session is intentionally designed to help participants organise their bodies, respond to change and grow through structured physical challenges.
Structured movement
Step-by-step progressions built on real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu foundations.
Visual Action Cards
Clear picture prompts that make each drill easy to follow.
Predictable routines
The same rhythm every session, so participants know what comes next.
Regulation tools
Breathing, grounding and movement resets used the moment they're needed.
Safe physical contact
Boundaried, respectful grips and holds that build comfort over time.
How each session flows
A consistent structure supports predictability. Within that structure, sessions are adapted in real time to what each participant needs on the day.

A consistent wind-down and reflection to finish the session.

Small, steady shifts
Progress is individual. Over time, families often see these kinds of changes emerge through consistent, structured sessions.
Better body awareness
Participants read their own movement and posture more clearly.
Confidence with new skills
Trying unfamiliar movement feels safer and more manageable.
Tolerance for structure
Sitting with routines and instructions becomes easier week by week.
Comfort with safe contact
Predictable grips and holds build trust in physical interaction.
Smoother transitions
Settling and re-engaging after a change of task gets easier.
